Adoption Day

Big day for our family today. We finally got to finalize Iris' adoption. Her name is now legally changed to Iris Ofelia Maples from Ofelia Maria Maples. Of ocurse we've been calling her Iris but now it's official. The court appearance was only 10-15 minutes. The lighting wasn't good and I'm disappointed in the photos but at least we got a few. They don't normally allow cameras in the court room but they make exceptions for adoption cases. Here are a few pics of our princess Iris.

Hello and many good wishes from South Dakota. You probably don't remember us, but we sat at the table with you at Amy and Eric's wedding. I check in on your blog periodically via Amy's blog. I feel for you and Ian having surgery - we just went through that here with my little one. I hope all is well and that everyone is doing better. Congratulations on the adoption finalization also! You have a beautiful family!

Congratulations on the official name change. I hope that Ian is out of the hospital at this point. Happy New Year!

Congratulations!

Thanks for your comments about fund raising for Ethiopian adoptions. My agency clarified that Ethiopia isn't concerned how you pay for the adoption, they just want to make sure you're being honest about how much money that you report making annually and that you're not relying on fund raising as part of your annual income.

I did modify the post, though. Thanks for looking out for me!!! :)
